THE ORIGIN OF BSP

In 2003 Raymond and his brother Alfred took over BSP Cycling from their father Hennie van der Heiden.

“I have great admiration for my father. He started the bicycle brand BSP in 1983, he built the bicycles himself by hand and sold them to local retailers”, says Alfred with pride in his voice. “Thanks to what my father set up, BSP was able to grow into what it is today; a beautiful Dutch brand that I am very happy and proud to be part of.”

It didn't last long when only the local bike shops were supplied, the hand-assembled BSP bicycles soon got wind of the bicycle shops all over the Netherlands. "At the time, my father was already working with the sheltered workshop in Zeist and the start-up of an assembly line was quickly arranged for them."

"My father is now over 70, but still a hard worker and that will not change any time soon. After retiring, Hennie just continued with what he always liked to do; doing cycling by hand and via Braidservice.nl he will be happy to repair your wheel!"
